Job summary

Alaris Group seeks a Product Manager in Centurion to support technical and commercial product activities. You will gather inputs, build pricing packages for new development and configuration opportunities, and maintain accurate product data to ensure fast, reliable responses to customer requests.

Qualifications

  • Exposure to an engineering discipline (RF, electronics, mechanical, systems, test, or similar)
  • Commercial inclination, with interest in pricing, costing, customer requirements, or the business side of engineering
  • Curiosity about markets, customer applications, and how products create value
  • Comfort working cross functionally with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Product
  • A disciplined and structured approach to documentation, detail, and data accuracy

Responsibilities

  • Gather cost, technical, and effort inputs from Product Owners, Chief Engineers, and Technical Leads
  • Compile pricing models for: New development, Variant/feature changes, Application specific configurations
  • Record and maintain pricing assumptions, engineering estimates, and commercial conditions
  • Prepare structured pricing packs
  • Lead and defend pricing proposals in opportunity forums
  • Act as first point of contact for Sales queries on configurations, product data, and documentation
  • Validate incoming customer requirements and route technical queries appropriately
  • Maintain request logs and ensure timely turnaround for internal stakeholders
  • Keep product specifications, variant tables, datasheets, and pricing accurate and current
  • Ensure alignment across ERP/PLM and customer facing material
  • Support version control and document update processes
  • Track quoting frequency, margins, and recurring opportunity patterns
  • Collect and structure feedback from Sales and customers for management review
  • Support early lifecycle tasks such as status updates, changes in product configurations, or known issue tracking
  • Assist with competitive product comparisons and pricing benchmarks
  • Produce structured summaries for strategic review

Job description

This position requires full-time presence at our Centurion, South Africa office.

The Product Manager supports the technical and commercial product function by gathering inputs, compiling pricing packages for new development and configuration opportunities, maintaining accurate product data, and ensuring Sales receive timely and accurate product information. This role bridges Sales, Product, and Engineering, enabling fast, reliable responses to customer requests while supporting product lifecycle discipline.

Minimum education (essential): B.Eng.

Minimum education (suggested): B.Eng. (Hons)

Minimum applicable work experience: 1 to 5 years

Required nature of applicable experience:

No prior product management experience is required, but candidates should demonstrate:

  • Exposure to an engineering discipline (RF, electronics, mechanical, systems, test, or similar)
  • Commercial inclination, with interest in pricing, costing, customer requirements, or the business side of engineering
  • Curiosity about markets, customer applications, and how products create value
  • Comfort working cross functionally with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Product

  • Strong numerical and analytical ability for pricing, cost modelling, and comparisons
  • Ability to structure information logically (tables, breakdowns, assumptions)
  • Willingness to learn commercial principles (margin, cost structure, product positioning)
  • Comfortable preparing structured documents, summaries, and pricing packs
  • Able to communicate technical inputs in a business friendly form
  • High attention to detail for documentation, product data, and internal coordination
