Job summary

BCXP seeks a Junior System Engineer (fixed term) to support VMware and Microsoft-based infrastructure in KwaZulu-Natal. You will participate in system changes, incident resolution, and on-call duties within a 24x7 environment.

The role requires 2 years of cloud/platform experience, VMware and Microsoft certs, and a Grade 12/NQF4 qualification. On-site Durban work with potential long hours as needed.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience in cloud/platform support in a large org.
• Minimum qualification: NQF4/Grade 12 National Diploma.
• Experience with VMware and Microsoft-based infra.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement system changes within client change windows; liaise with clients/vendors.
• Lead resolution of service disruptions in a timely manner.
• Assist with project delivery and SLA-focused tasks.
• Contribute to team effectiveness with technical and customer focus.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call operations as required.
• Support VMware infrastructure and related systems.
• Create documentation and technical authoring outputs.
• Install hardware/software and perform systems testing.
• Patch, update software and deploy business apps.

Under general supervision, responsible for installation and operational support of VMWare & Microsoft based infrastructure and related back-end systems

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

• Plan, coordinate and implement system changes within client specified change windows. Liaise with the clients, vendors and other partners to ensure minimal disruption to the client's day-to-day business operations.
• Manage, own and co-ordinate the technical resolution of service disruptions in a timely manner.
• Assist with project delivery.
• Contribute to the overall team effectiveness through technical contributions, customer focus and teamwork.
