Job summary

Bcxp in South Africa seeks a Junior BI Developer to support the design, development, testing and maintenance of business intelligence reports, dashboards and data solutions. Under the guidance of senior BI resources, the role gathers reporting requirements, prepares and validates data, develops visualizations, resolves basic defects and maintains supporting documentation.

Qualifications

• 3 years of BI, reporting or data analysis experience or relevant internships.
• Knowledge of BI tools, SQL and data visualization basics.
• Willingness to learn and work with senior BI resources.

Responsibilities

• Assist gathering and clarifying reporting and dashboard requirements.
• Develop and maintain standard reports, dashboards and visualizations.
• Extract, transform and organize data for reporting and analysis.
• Perform data quality checks and reconcile outputs.
• Execute basic testing and fix simple defects in reports/dashboards.
• Provide first-line BI support and escalate complex issues.
• Maintain report specifications, data definitions and user guidance.
• Build BI capability through coaching, training and practical delivery.

The Junior BI Developer supports the design, development, testing and maintenance of business intelligence reports, dashboards and data solutions. Working under the guidance of senior BI resources, the role gathers reporting requirements, prepares and validates data, develops visualizations, resolves basic defects and maintains supporting documentation. The position contributes to reliable operational reporting and continuous improvement while complying with approved data, security and development standards.

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

• Requirements Support: Assist with gathering, documenting and clarifying reporting and dashboard requirements.
• Report and Dashboard Development: Develop and maintain standard reports, dashboards and visualizations using approved BI tools and templates.
• Data Preparation: Extract, transform, clean and organize data from approved sources for reporting and analysis.
• Data Quality Validation: Perform data checks, reconcile report outputs and elevate material data quality or definition issues.
• Testing and Defect Resolution: Execute unit and functional tests, record evidence and correct basic report or dashboard defects.
• BI Support: Provide first-line support for assigned BI solutions, investigate incidents and refer complex issues to senior team members.
• Documentation: Maintain report specifications, data definitions, test records, user guidance and change documentation.
• Continuous Learning: Build technical capability in BI development, data modelling, SQL and visualization through coaching, training and practical delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

• NQF 6: 3 year Degree/ Diploma/ National Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science

Experience

3 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, reporting, data analysis, SQL or dashboard development. Relevant internship, graduate programme, academic project or practical exposure will be considered.
