Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated Farm Manager to oversee and optimize agricultural operations in George, Western Cape. This hands-on role combines technical farming methods with strong leadership to manage day-to-day activities, resource allocation, and crop/livestock production.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in farm management, with experience in sustainable and organic farming practices and the ability to adapt to seasonal demands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Agriculture or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in farm management or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of crop production, soil management, and pest/disease control.
• Experience with livestock management is desirable.
• Proficient in budgeting and financial management for agricultural operations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills; able to lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of farm operations from planting to harvest.
• Develop annual farm plans, budgets, and production schedules.
• Oversee livestock health, welfare, and productivity.
• Implement sustainable farming practices including water conservation.
• Supervise farm laborers and specialized personnel.
• Maintain farm machinery and equipment.
• Source inputs like seeds, fertilizers, and feed.
• Monitor market trends and liaise with buyers.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Maintain records of activities, production, expenses and sales.
• Implement IPM for pest and disease control.
• Manage irrigation systems to ensure water supply.
