About the Role

Our client, a leader in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, is seeking a strategic and experienced Supply Chain Manager to oversee their operations in Pretoria, Gauteng . This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective flow of goods from procurement through to distribution. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the supply chain, including inventory management, logistics, warehousing, and demand planning. We are looking for an individual with a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to optimise complex supply chain networks within the demanding FMCG environment. This hybrid role offers a blend of in-office strategic planning and operational oversight, with flexibility for remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust supply chain strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
• Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
• Manage demand planning and forecasting processes to ensure optimal stock levels and minimise disruptions.
• Lead and mentor the supply chain team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, logistics providers, and other third-party partners.
• Implement and maintain effective inventory control systems to minimise stockouts and excess inventory.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
• Utilise supply chain analytics and technology to identify areas for optimisation and drive efficiency gains.
• Collaborate with procurement, production, sales, and finance departments to align supply chain activities with business goals.
• Develop and implement risk management strategies for the supply chain.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, with a significant portion within the FMCG sector.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex supply chains and delivering cost savings.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management, demand planning, logistics, and warehousing operations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in supply chain planning software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles is advantageous.
• Based in or willing to commute to Pretoria, Gauteng , with an understanding of the hybrid work arrangement.
