Job summary

Sibanye Stillwater is seeking a qualified Strata Control professional to support production objectives and minimize disruptions from mining conditions. The role requires 5+ years of related experience, NQF4 with Maths & Science, and a COM Strata Control Certificate.

• Medically fit to work in the specific business area.

• Develop and implement a proactive approach to safety Strata Control issues in the workplace with effective coordination and supervision of support functions.
• Present information to management in reports.
• Provide advice based on specialist knowledge.
• Scrutinize submitted data and provide feedback.
• Attend and participate in meetings with required information.
• Keep abreast of latest Strata Control developments, innovations and technologies.
• Assist with updating policies, procedures and regulations in line with trends.
• Perform other activities for effective completion of work.
• Stakeholder Relations: build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels and cross-functionally.
• Ensure open communication with all relevant stakeholders.
• Liaise on environmental management requirements where applicable.
• Financial Management: control costs and minimize wastage, report deviations to supervisor.
• Support organisational development and culture initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Strata Control
• Ensures that safe quality of work is achieved daily by developing and implementing a proactive approach to all safety Strata Control issues in the workplace which requires the effective co-ordination and supervision of the support functions.
• Presents information to management in the form of reports
• Provides advice based on specialist knowledge information received,
• Scrutinize submitted data from the workplace and providing feedback.
• Attends and participates in meetings by providing required information.
• Keeps abreast of latest relevant Strata Control developments, innovations and technologies.
• Assists with the maintenance and updates of relevant policies, procedures and regulations in line with current trends and developments and based on own specialist knowledge.
• Performs any other activities necessary for the effective completion of his / her work. Stakeholder Relations
• Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.
• Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
• Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable.
• Financial Management
• Ensures that costs are controlled and wastage of resources is eliminated by working within prescribed budgets. Reports deviations to Supervisor. Building a values-based organisational culture
• Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment.

• Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment.
• Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks.

• Participate in regional/local bodies and decision-making forums in the process developing a business relevant external environment, that will result in the longer-term sustainability of the Division.
