Job summary

Sibanye Stillwater seeks an experienced Strata Control professional to lead safety-driven mining oversight. You will develop proactive safety practices, coordinate with support functions, and ensure compliance with governance standards.

The role requires strong data interpretation, stakeholder communication, and ongoing development of policies within a dynamic mining environment. The incumbent will drive risk assessments, maintain SHE standards, and contribute to ESG initiatives while mentoring

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science (NQF)
• COM Strata Control Certificate that supports role requirements
• Minimum 5 years experience in a related Strata Control role
• Valid driver’s license, clean credit and security records
• Medically fit to work in the mining environment

Responsibilities

• Oversee Strata Control activities and ensure daily safety practices are proactive.
• Develop and implement safety procedures; coordinate support functions.
• Present management reports with findings and insights.
• Provide specialist advice based on data and field observations.
• Scrutinize workplace data and provide constructive feedback.
• Attend and contribute in meetings with necessary information.
• Stay updated on Strata Control developments and technologies.
• Maintain relevant policies and procedures per current trends and regulations.
• Assist with stakeholder relations and maintain cross-functional communications.
• Manage costs and resources within budgets; report deviations to supervisor.
• Support ESG compliance and responsible mining principles across operations.
• Lead SHE compliance and participate in risk assessments.
• Job purpose: support Production to achieve objectives and minimize disruptions from mining conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Strata Control
• Ensures that safe quality of work is achieved daily by developing and implementing a proactive approach to all safety Strata Control issues in the workplace which requires the effective co-ordination and supervision of the support functions.
• Presents information to management in the form of reports
• Provides advice based on specialist knowledge information received,
• Scrutinize submitted data from the workplace and providing feedback.
• Attends and participates in meetings by providing required information.
• Keeps abreast of latest relevant Strata Control developments, innovations and technologies.
• Assists with the maintenance and updates of relevant policies, procedures and regulations in line with current trends and developments and based on own specialist knowledge.
• Performs any other activities necessary for the effective completion of his / her work. Stakeholder Relations
• Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.
• Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
• Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable.
• Financial Management
• Ensures that costs are controlled and wastage of resources is eliminated by working within prescribed budgets. Reports deviations to Supervisor. Building a values-based organisational culture
• Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment. ESG Compliance
• Align to international responsible mining principles.
• SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council (WGC) Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs).
• SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative.
• US PGM Operations: Enhance together for ICCM principles. SHE Compliance
• Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment.
• Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks.
• Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management:
• Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the section.
• Participate in regional/local bodies and decision-making forums in the process developing a business relevant external environment, that will result in the longer-term sustainability of the Division. Quality Management System (QMS):
