Placements24 seeks a skilled Substation Maintenance Technician for its Queenstown, South Africa facilities. You will inspect, test, maintain, and repair electrical equipment within substations to ensure reliable operation of the power grid.

The role requires attention to detail, a strong understanding of high-voltage systems, and strict safety adherence. Experience in calibration and testing, plus a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel, are essential.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in substation maintenance or related electrical field.
• Proficiency in testing and calibrating substation equipment.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage safety practices and lockout/tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance on substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear.
• Conduct diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of electrical faults and equipment failures.
• Execute preventative maintenance plans to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Safely operate specialized tools and equipment for testing and repair.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Adhere strictly to all safety regulations for working in a high-voltage environment.
