Job summary

Mventech Group is seeking a Study Manager in Centurion to lead multidisciplinary mining and mineral processing studies from Concept to DFS. You will provide strategic direction to the study team, ensuring technical excellence, governance and client satisfaction while delivering on time and within budget.

You will interface with clients and a broad engineering team, integrating technical, commercial and strategic inputs into investment-ready studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher in engineering (BEng/BSc).
• Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Project Management or Business Management advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in mining/mineral processing or engineering consulting.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary studies from concept through feasibility stages.
• Strong client-facing and commercial delivery experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary study teams through the study lifecycle.
• Develop and implement the Study Execution Plan.
• Define study objectives, scope and deliverables.
• Establish governance and reporting structures.
• Ensure adherence to methodologies and best practices.
• Drive cross-disciplinary collaboration and value engineering.
• Manage study budgets, schedules, and risk across all disciplines.
• Act as primary client interface and manage expectations.
• Mentor Project Managers and Engineers; support recruitment and resource planning.

The Opportunity

The Study Manager is responsible for the successful planning, coordination and delivery of multidisciplinary mining and mineral processing studies from Concept through Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS). The role provides overall leadership to the study team, ensuring technical excellence, commercial performance, governance and client satisfaction while delivering studies safely, on schedule and within budget.

The Study Manager serves as the primary interface between the client and the multidisciplinary engineering team, integrating technical, commercial and strategic inputs into a robust investment-ready study.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary study teams throughout the study lifecycle.
• Develop and implement the Study Execution Plan.
• Define study objectives, scope and deliverables.
• Establish governance and reporting structures.
• Ensure studies comply with company methodologies and industry best practice.
• Drive collaboration across all engineering disciplines.

Project Delivery

• Develop and manage study schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate engineering activities across all disciplines.
• Monitor progress against key milestones.
• Manage study risks and opportunities.
• Resolve technical and commercial issues impacting delivery.
• Ensure quality and consistency of all study deliverables.

Client Management

• Act as the primary client representative throughout the study.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Facilitate workshops, review meetings and Steering Committees.
• Manage client expectations and communication.
• Present study outcomes and recommendations.

Commercial Management

• Manage study budgets and profitability.
• Manage scope changes and study variations.
• Support proposal preparation and business development activities.
• Identify opportunities for follow-on work.

Technical Governance

• Lead technical reviews and design integration.
• Ensure study assumptions are aligned across all disciplines.
• Challenge engineering solutions to maximise value.
• Ensure technical risks are appropriately managed.
• Mentor Project Managers and Project Engineers.
• Coach junior engineers.
• Promote collaboration and accountability.
• Foster a high-performance team culture.
• Support recruitment and resource planning.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc Engineering.
• Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Project Management or Business Management will be advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years' experience in mining, mineral processing or engineering consulting.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary Concept, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong client-facing experience.
• Commercial and project delivery experience.

Technical Skills

• Microsoft 365.
• Microsoft Project.
• Power BI (advantageous).
• SharePoint.
• Familiarity with study governance frameworks and project management methodologies.
