Job summary

The Human Aspect is seeking a Studio Lead / Senior Interior Designer to guide commercial interior projects from concept to construction documentation. You will lead design direction and mentor a team, ensuring design intent is realized in coordinated Revit documentation on-site in Fourways, Johannesburg.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of interior design experience, a strong portfolio, and proven leadership with client-facing skills.

Studio Lead / Senior Interior Designer

Location: Fourways, Johannesburg

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a creatively strong Studio Lead / Senior Interior Designer to lead commercial interior projects from initial brief and concept development through to coordinated construction issue.

This is a design leadership role requiring strong conceptual ability, client-facing confidence and sufficient technical knowledge to guide Revit documentation while maintaining the approved design intent.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead projects from concept through design development and construction issue
• Develop commercially relevant interior design concepts
• Present concepts to clients, consultants and project stakeholders
• Direct and review Revit documentation
• Maintain design quality and consistency across projects
• Brief and manage designers, visualisers and technical resources
• Mentor junior team members
• Identify and resolve design, coordination and buildability issues

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 5 years professional interior design experience
• Strong conceptual and creative design portfolio
• Commercial interior design experience
• Experience taking projects from brief through to construction documentation
• Good Revit competency
• Strong understanding of detailing, materials, finishes, joinery and lighting
• Leadership, mentoring and client-facing skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Own vehicle and valid drivers licence
• Grade 12
• Relevant qualifications and experience are essential
• Valid drivers licence and own vehicle is essential
• Capability in visualisation software such as D5, Lumion, Twinmotion, 3ds Max / V-Ray or similar
• 5yrs+ previous working experience as a professional interior designer
• Strong, demonstrable conceptual and creative interior design ability is essential
• Strong practical understanding of interior construction, detailing, materials, finishes, joinery, lighting and
• Revit competency sufficient to understand, lead, review and direct documentation while maintaining
• Design intent. This is not primarily a high-volume drawing-production role.
• Experience managing, briefing or mentoring other designers and technical resources
• Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and design priorities without compromising design quality
• Person will lead design direction, manage and mentor supporting design resources, brief and review
• Contributors, and work closely with the Senior Revit Technician to ensure that design intent is accurately
• Translated into coordinated technical documentation
