Job summary

BVi Consulting Engineers Western Cape (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town is seeking a Structural Engineer for Renewable Energy Projects to join our permanent team.

The role focuses on detailed design and implementation of civil infrastructure for wind and solar facilities. You will author and review design documentation, support project delivery from design to construction, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering is required.
• Minimum 4 years of post-graduate engineering experience.
• Minimum 1–2 years of practical site experience in renewables.
• Wind farm experience strongly preferred; solar project experience considered.
• Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
• Solid knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Detailed design and implementation of civil infrastructure on renewable projects with focus on reinforced concrete and structural steel.
• Authoring and review of structural design documentation such as calculations, reports and drawings.
• Provide structural input across renewable energy projects from design through construction and completion.
• Assist with preparation and review of technical reports, specifications, drawings and project documentation.
• Monitor progress and contribute to project reporting and construction meetings.
• Conduct site inspections and resolve technical and construction-related issues.
• Liaise with contractors, clients, consultants and other stakeholders to ensure project delivery.
• Ensure design and construction work complies with applicable legislation and BVi procedures.
