Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a respected engineering consultancy in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, to hire a Senior Structural Engineer. You will design, analyze, and oversee structural elements for civil and building projects, with site visits across the Richards Bay region.

Ideal candidates hold a BEng/BSc in Civil/Structural Engineering, are ECSA-registered, have 7+ years' experience in steel, concrete and masonry design, and are proficient in SAP2000, ETABS, Prokon, AutoCAD and Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Pr. Eng or Tech. Prof. registration with ECSA.
• 7+ years of post-graduate structural engineering design experience.
• Experience in designing steel, concrete and masonry structures.
• Proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS, Prokon and CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit).
• Strong knowledge of SA building codes and standards.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Site supervision and construction monitoring experience.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for civil and building projects.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports using CAD and relevant software.
• Conduct site investigations and inspections to assess existing structures and monitor construction progress.
• Ensure all designs comply with SANS and other relevant building codes.

Requirements

• Proven experience in designing steel, concrete, and masonry structures.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, Prokon) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
• Strong understanding of relevant South African building codes and standards.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Experience with site supervision and construction monitoring is essential.
