Job summary

FHI Consulting Engineers in Cape Town seeks a capable Structural Engineer to join our growing team. You will design, analyze and deliver safe structural solutions across buildings and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include preparing calculations and reports, reviewing drawings with architects, and conducting site inspections to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
• Minimum of three years of relevant structural design experience in a consulting environment.
• Working knowledge of South African building regulations and design standards.
• Experience designing concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures.
• Proficiency in PROKON SUMO and PROKON modules.
• Ability to interpret and review architectural and engineering drawings.
• Strong technical writing, problem solving and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Experience conducting site inspections and attending site meetings.

FHI Consulting Engineers is growing. With an expanding project portfolio and increased demand for our services, we are creating a new permanent position for a capable and detail-driven Structural Engineer to join our Cape Town team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis and delivery of safe, practical and cost-effective structural solutions across a range of building and infrastructure projects.

Minimum requirements

Advantageous experience

• Experience working on residential, commercial and industrial developments
• Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD or similar drafting and BIM software
