Hire Resolve's client is seeking a skilled Structural Engineer or Structural Technologist to join a dynamic team within the construction industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, design, and implementation of structural projects, with a strong emphasis on commercial developments. This position combines office-based design work with on-site responsibilities, offering an exciting opportunity to apply technical expertise and project management skills in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of structural designs for buildings and infrastructure projects.
- Use design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Tekla to produce and revise technical drawings.
- Conduct basic structural calculations under supervision to analyse loads, materials, and stability.
- Support the detailing and engineering of façade systems, ensuring design intent is preserved when applicable.
- Prepare reports, specifications, and technical documentation in line with project and regulatory requirements.
- Attend site visits and inspections, supporting senior engineers in evaluating construction progress and quality.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to address engineering challenges.
- Provide project assistance across all stages, from concept design to final construction and handover.
- Participate actively in training and development opportunities to enhance engineering knowledge and skills.
- Integrate sustainable and innovative design principles into engineering solutions where possible.
- Support health and safety compliance across all phases of engineering and construction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or nearing completion).
- Strong interest or experience in structural design and analysis.
- Familiarity with design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
- Exposure to or interest in façade engineering or architectural detailing is advantageous.
- Understanding of basic engineering principles and South African building codes.
- Willingness to work in a remote/rural location (Sutherland, Northern Cape).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to assist on-site and participate in inspections or construction support.
- Eagerness to grow professionally under the mentorship of senior engineers.
