Job summary

FHI Consulting Engineers in Cape Town seeks a capable Structural Engineer to join our growing team. You will design and analyse concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures, prepare calculations and reports, and coordinate with architects and other consultants.

The role requires a BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering (structure) and a minimum of three years’ experience in a consulting environment, with knowledge of SA regulations and Revit/AutoCAD or similar BIM tools.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
• Minimum of three years’ relevant structural design experience in a consulting environment.
• Working knowledge of SA building regulations and structural design standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyse reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry and timber structures.
• Prepare structural calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
• Develop structural concepts and practical construction solutions.
• Review drawings and coordinate with architects and other consultants.
• Conduct site inspections and assess construction quality and compliance.
• Identify structural risks and resolve design issues during design and construction.
• Attend project, design and site meetings and monitor scope and budget.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS standards and engineering codes.
• Provide technical guidance to technicians and draughting staff.
• Maintain clear communication with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
