Job summary

Grey High School in South Africa is seeking an experienced Stringed Instrument Specialist and Educator to join the Music Department from Term 1 2027. This is a full-time SGB post for Grades 8 to 12, with responsibilities in tuition, ensemble training, conducting and festival coordination.

The ideal candidate will have advanced competency in upper strings, working knowledge of lower strings to Grade 6, and a proven track record with strong references. Piano accompaniment is a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide individual tuition in strings.
• Train String Ensemble and conduct performances.

Grey High School is seeking an experienced and dynamic Stringed Instrument Specialist and Educator to join our Music Department from Term 1 2027.

This is a full-time SGB post for Grades 8 to 12, with the successful candidate contributing to the continued growth and development of the school’s existing Strings programme and the broader cultural and extracurricular life of the school.

We are looking for a candidate with:

• Advanced competency in upper strings
• Working knowledge of lower strings to a minimum Grade 6 level
• Relevant experience, good references and an established track record
• The ability to accompany at the piano would be an added advantage

Key responsibilities include individual tuition, String Ensemble group training, conducting and performance, preparation for external performance examinations, and managing tour excursions and Festival events.
