Inspired Education Group's Reddam House Constantia in Cape Town seeks a Preparatory School Head of Music to lead Grades 1–7 and manage a peripatetic music staff.

You will foster a love of music, coordinate lessons, oversee performances, and collaborate with the College Head of Music to expand the school's musical offering.

This role requires at least 5 years of preparatory school teaching, ICT proficiency, and proven leadership of a music department.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in a preparatory school setting.
• Proficient ICT use in teaching and presenting lessons.
• Experience leading a large music department/team.
• African Marimba ensemble experience is a plus.
• Experience with choirs and piano is essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and present Music lessons for Grades 1–4.
• Develop and grow Elective Music curriculum in Grades 5–7.
• Create a nurturing teaching environment that supports learning.
• Encourage passion and interest in music for all students.
• Manage punctuality, behaviour and homework standards.
• Evaluate and refine teaching to meet diverse student needs.
• Teach extra lessons two afternoons per week.
• Produce high-standard learning materials for students.
• Coordinate student sign-up and allocation to music staff.
• Set expectations and monitor progress of music students.
• Support recruitment and development of music staff.
• Collaborate with College Head of Music to enhance offerings.
• Organize music/cultural events throughout the year.
