Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a strategic Commercial Transport Planner in Polokwane to optimize transportation networks, manage route planning, load optimization and carrier performance. You will work with sales, operations and warehouse teams to meet demand while controlling costs and delivery schedules.

The role offers exposure to diverse transport challenges and opportunities to influence logistics strategy within Limpopo, in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in transport planning, logistics or supply chain roles.
• Experience in route optimization and load planning software.
• Strong understanding of the commercial transport landscape and carrier operations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and logistics software.
• Good negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage optimized transportation plans considering cost, time and capacity.
• Analyze shipping requirements and select transport modes and carriers.
• Negotiate rates and terms with transport providers to achieve cost savings.
• Monitor shipment progress and address delays or disruptions.
• Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure efficient loading/unloading.
• Prepare reports on transport costs and performance metrics.
