Job summary

The President Hotel in Cape Town seeks an experienced Head of Procurement to shape and lead our end-to-end procurement and cost-control functions across 349 rooms. You will drive strategic sourcing, supplier governance, contract management and value creation in a large hospitality operation.

We require a senior professional with a track record in hotel procurement, CIPS or equivalent, and strong leadership to partner with senior management on budgets, inventories and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or equivalent qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce or related field.
• Recognised procurement qualification such as CIPS or equivalent certification preferred; postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• Minimum 7 years' progressive procurement or supply management experience, including at least 3 years leading a procurement team.
• Experience in large-volume hotel/hospitality procurement is essential; direct hotel experience preferred.
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, tender processes, negotiation and contract management.
• Experience across multiple categories (F&B, operating supplies, services, maintenance, technology, capital projects).
• Strong understanding of inventory management, cost control and total cost/value analysis.
• Experience with supplier due diligence, onboarding, master-data controls and supplier KPIs.
• Strong financial/analytical capabilities and procurement reporting.
• Knowledge of procurement governance, authority delegation and supplier risk.
• Experience implementing or improving ERP/inventory systems and approval workflows.
• Knowledge of SA supplier market, B-BBEE and ethical procurement.
• Strong leadership, communication and computer skills.
• South African ID or work authorisation.
• Fully updated CV with references.

Responsibilities

• Lead the hotel's end-to-end procurement function and develop strategy, policies, category plans, and sourcing priorities.
• Partner with senior leaders to align procurement with budgets and future needs.
• Lead strategic sourcing, RFQs, tenders and supplier evaluations considering total cost, quality, service and risk.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and contractual conditions and manage contracts through their lifecycle.
• Oversee supplier due diligence, onboarding and master-data controls with accurate records.
• Develop supplier scorecards, conduct performance reviews and manage supplier relationships and risks.
• Oversee daily procurement across hotel departments and approve POs within authority.
• Work with Cost Control and Stores to improve stock availability, turnover and wastage control.
• Align procurement with budgets/cash flow and measure savings and value improvements.
• Produce reporting on spend, contracts, suppliers, savings and risk.
• Maintain procurement governance and audit readiness.
• Promote ethical, local and sustainable procurement practices.
• Lead procurement systems improvements and data quality.
• Develop Procurement and Cost Control teams with a culture of integrity and excellence.
