Job summary

Sol Plaatje University seeks a Senior Manager: Fundraising and Alumni Relations to lead third‑stream income growth, and to develop and execute fundraising, alumni relations and stakeholder engagement strategies for local and international donors.

You will manage prospect research, proposal development, donor reporting, and stewardship, with at least 5–8 years in fundraising, and a postgraduate (NQF8) qualification; a master's is preferred.

Qualifications

• postgraduate (NQF8) qualification in Fundraising, Development, Higher Education, Accounting, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Administration or Management,
• At least 5 to 8 years' relevant experience, of which at least 5 years must be in fundraising, development, finance management or resource mobilisation,
• At least 2 years supervisory experience,
• A verifiable record of securing and closing gifts, grants or sponsorships, and meeting income targets,
• Demonstrated proposal writing, donor negotiation and donor reporting experience,
• Experience of managing a donor or alumni CRM database,
• Demonstrated ability to network and work with a wide range of constituencies internally and externally,
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Takes responsibility for Fundraising Strategy Development and Execution: Fundraising, Alumni Relations, Stakeholder Engagement.
• Manages Fundraising: Prospect Research, Corporate/Trust/Foundations giving, Proposal Development, Campaigns, Individual and Alumni Giving, Donor Recognition and Stewardship.
• Manages Alumni Relations and Alumni Giving: Future Alumni, Alumni Engagement, Alumni Communication and Data.
• Manages Stakeholder and Partnership Engagement: University Engagement, Social and Community Partnerships, Engaged Research.
• Engages Policy Unit for policy and procedure development for the office.
• Ensures quality assurance and risk management.
• Ensures Health and Safety compliance.
• Manages HR, Budgets, Finances and Procurement.
