Job summary

Placements24 in Centurion, Gauteng is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee a large vehicle fleet. The role blends on-site operational duties with remote strategic planning to ensure safety, reliability, and peak performance across the fleet.

You will lead a team of fleet technicians and admin staff, develop cost-control strategies, and ensure regulatory compliance while driving efficiency and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in fleet management or a similar role.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with fleet management software and telematics systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, and budgeting skills.
• Familiarity with South African road transport legislation and compliance.
• Hybrid work capability with on-site Centurion duties.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement fleet management strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, and servicing schedules for all vehicles.
• Ensure vehicle compliance with national and provincial regulations and safety standards.
• Manage fuel consumption and implement fuel efficiency strategies.
• Supervise and train fleet technicians and administrative staff.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers for vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and parts.
• Implement and monitor telematics and GPS tracking systems for performance analysis.
• Manage vehicle insurance, licensing, and registration processes.
• Investigate accidents and incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate fleet records including maintenance logs and expenses.
