Job summary

IX Engineers is expanding its business development team in Pretoria to drive growth in the energy sector. The role focuses on identifying new opportunities, building strong client relationships, and leading deal origination and structuring across renewables and infrastructure projects.

Candidates should have 5–8 years in BD for energy or engineering sectors, with a proven track record in securing large contracts and strong understanding of project economics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
• 5–8 years’ experience in business development, preferably in energy, infrastructure, or engineering sectors
• Proven track record of securing and closing large-scale projects or contracts
• Strong understanding of energy markets and project economics
• Experience in renewable or distributed energy solutions
• Understanding of project financing and investment structuring
• Network within the energy and infrastructure sectors

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the energy sector (e.g., renewables, energy efficiency, infrastructure solutions).
• Develop strategic BD plans aligned to company growth targets and maintain a strong sales pipeline to hit revenue targets.
• Lead tendering, proposal development, and contract negotiations.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, investors, and stakeholders; act as primary contact for strategic accounts.
• Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive threats; support strategic decision-making and product/service development.
• Identify bankable energy projects, assess viability, develop business cases and financial models; collaborate with technical, finance, and operations teams to structure deals.
