Job summary

Olarm seeks a meticulous Stores Controller to own inventory and component control in our manufacturing facility. You will ensure accurate receipt, storage, and issuing of electronic components, production materials, and finished goods, collaborating with Procurement, Manufacturing, Finance, Logistics, and Engineering to maintain high inventory accuracy.

You will be systematic, proactive, and operate to enterprise stores standards, driving accuracy and efficiency across ERP/MRP systems and stock

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in stores, inventory control, warehousing, procurement support, or a similar role.
  • Experience in electronics, technical, or manufacturing environments is highly advantageous.
  • Strong experience with inventory management systems, ERP/MRP platforms, or similar systems.
  • Good understanding of stock control principles and processes.
  • Experience conducting cycle counts and stock takes.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the stores function.

Responsibilities

  • Take day-to-day ownership of inventory within the factory stores.
  • Ensure all stock is accurately received, labelled, stored, issued, and recorded.
  • Maintain accurate inventory quantities and locations within the ERP/MRP or inventory management system.
  • Ensure physical stock matches system records.
  • Maintain logical and clearly defined stock locations.
  • Ensure components and materials are stored appropriately and safely.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient stores environment.
  • Manage inventory of electronic components, PCBs, mechanical parts, packaging, consumables, and other production materials.
  • Ensure components are correctly identified and stored according to part numbers and specifications.
  • Maintain appropriate handling procedures for sensitive electronic components, including ESD requirements where applicable.
  • Manage component traceability, batch information, or serialisation where required.
  • Monitor ageing, obsolete, damaged, or excess inventory and elevate concerns appropriately.
  • Work closely with Procurement to ensure required production components and materials are available.
  • Monitor stock levels and highlight components approaching minimum or reorder levels.
  • Identify potential shortages before they impact manufacturing.
  • Assist Procurement with component quantities, stock availability, and inventory information.
  • Follow up on outstanding purchase orders and expected deliveries where required.
  • Support alternative component or supplier investigations by providing accurate inventory information.
  • Receive incoming deliveries and verify quantities against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
  • Inspect incoming goods for visible damage or discrepancies.
  • Ensure stock is correctly captured into inventory systems.
  • Identify and elevate incorrect quantities, damaged goods, or incorrect components.
  • Ensure received stock is moved to the appropriate storage location promptly.
  • Maintain accurate receiving documentation and records.
  • Pick and issue components and materials to Manufacturing according to production requirements.
  • Prepare production kits and component allocations where required.
  • Ensure production teams receive the correct parts and quantities.
  • Manage the return of unused components from production back into stores.
  • Investigate discrepancies between materials issued and materials consumed.
  • Work closely with Production to ensure material availability does not unnecessarily delay manufacturing.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and scheduled stock takes.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies and identify root causes.
  • Process approved inventory adjustments accurately.
  • Maintain a high standard of stock accuracy across all inventory categories.
  • Support Finance with stock reconciliations and year‑end stock counts.
  • Develop processes that reduce stock losses, incorrect allocations, and inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory information within the company's ERP/MRP system.
  • Ensure all stock movements are captured correctly and timeously.
  • Maintain accurate part numbers, stock locations, and related inventory information.
  • Identify system or process improvements that could improve inventory visibility and accuracy.
  • Ensure inventory transactions follow agreed internal controls and processes.
  • Continuously improve stores processes, layouts, and workflows.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for receiving, storing, issuing, and counting stock.
  • Identify opportunities to improve stock visibility and material flow.
  • Help establish scalable stores processes capable of supporting increased manufacturing volumes.
  • Maintain high standards of organisation, traceability, and inventory control as the business grows.
  • Ensure clear communication around stock availability, shortages, incoming materials, production requirements, and inventory risks.

Job Description

We are looking for a highly organised, detail-oriented, and accountable Stores Controller to take ownership of inventory and component control within our manufacturing facility.

The Stores Controller is responsible for ensuring that all electronic components, production materials, consumables, and finished goods are accurately received, stored, controlled, issued, and accounted for.

This is a critical role within our manufacturing operation and requires someone who operates with a high level of accuracy, discipline, and ownership. The successful candidate will work closely with Procurement, Manufacturing, Finance, Logistics, and Engineering to ensure that the right components and materials are available when required while maintaining excellent inventory accuracy.

The ideal candidate is systematic, proactive, and comfortable operating to high enterprise‑level inventory and stores standards.

Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Stores Management
  • Take day‑to‑day ownership of inventory within the factory stores.
