Introduction
My client, retail outlet, in Paarl is seeking a strong Store Manager.
The Store Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the retail store, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient operations, and achievement of sales and profitability targets. This role leads, develops, and motivates the store team while maintaining high standards in merchandising, compliance, and customer experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
Operations & Performance
- Oversee daily store operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and compliant workflows
- Achieve or exceed sales, revenue, and KPI targets
- Manage store budgets, expenses, and inventory levels
- Analyse sales trends and implement action plans to improve performance
- Drive store events and competitions
- Ensure price changes is done correctly and communicated
- Oversee claims and refunds are done correctly
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, schedule, and develop store staff
- Lead by example to create a positive, performance-driven work environment
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and effective shift coverage
Customer Experience
- Deliver an outstanding customer experience aligned with brand standards
- Handle customer escalations and resolve issues professionally
- Build strong relationships with customers and encourage repeat business
Merchandising & Visual Standards
- Ensure product displays and visual merchandising meet brand guidelines
- Maintain store appearance, cleanliness, and safety standards
- Plan and execute promotional and seasonal merchandising changes
- Conducting floor walks and replenish from storeroom
- Ensure prices are on all stock
- Assist with Window Displays as per instruction from Merchandising Manager
Inventory & Compliance
- Manage stock levels, deliveries, transfers, and shrinkage prevention
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and local regulations
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
- Assist with Health & Safety investigations
- Support Labour Department audits with HR manager
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Previous experience in retail receiving, warehousing, or stock administration or stationery retail experience is an advantage
- Strong computer skills (e.g., POS / ERP systems, Excel)
- High attention to detail and strong accuracy
- Good communication and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Basic understanding of stock rotation and replenishment.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Package & Remuneration
R10 000-R13000 basic salary (negotiable)
