Job summary

Humankind in Prospecton, Durban, is seeking a Stock Controller & Export Logistics Coordinator for a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role combines hands-on stock control, logyard administration and export logistics coordination to ensure orders move accurately and on time.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Logyard Manager, export service providers and customers, handling documentation, container bookings and shipment tracking in a busy site-based environment.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • 2-3 years' practical experience in stock control, warehouse administration, logistics coordination or a similar role.
  • Proven experience conducting stock counts and reconciliations.
  • Experience with receiving, stock movements and dispatch documentation.
  • Exposure to export logistics and shipping documentation.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using an ERP, inventory or warehouse management system.
  • Strong numerical ability and attention to detail.
  • Good customer and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Control and accurately record stock received, stored, transferred, picked, packed and dispatched.
  • Conduct stock counts and reconcile physical stock against system records.
  • Investigate stock variances and escalate unresolved discrepancies.
  • Monitor stock levels, ageing, FIFO, damaged stock and shrinkage.
  • Verify incoming stock against purchase orders, delivery notes and physical quantities.
  • Coordinate picking, packing, loading and dispatch requirements.
  • Ensure stock and supporting documentation are correct before dispatch.
  • Coordinate export shipping orders from preparation through to dispatch.
  • Prepare and check export documentation including: invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, origin and phytosanitary certificates, fumigation certificates.
  • Coordinate container bookings, transport, freight and related export services.
  • Liaise with outsourced export providers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, transporters and shipping lines.
  • Track shipments, vessel cut-offs, departures and delivery milestones.
  • Provide customers with accurate stock, shipment and delivery updates.
  • Assist with export and logistics cost administration and supporting records.
  • Compile stock and logistics reports.
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with operational, export and Health & Safety requirements.

Stock Controller & Export Logistics Coordinator

Location: Prospecton, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal

Contract: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Salary: R35,000 per month

Work Arrangement: Fully Site-Based

An established organisation within the timber and forestry sector is looking for an experienced Stock Controller & Export Logistics Coordinator to join its Durban Log Yard operation on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

This is a hands-on Supply Chain role combining physical stock control, logyard administration and export logistics coordination. The successful candidate will work closely with the Logyard Manager, outsourced export service providers, transporters and customers to ensure stock and export orders move accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Control and accurately record stock received, stored, transferred, picked, packed and dispatched.
  • Conduct stock counts and reconcile physical stock against system records.
  • Investigate stock variances and escalates unresolved discrepancies.
  • Monitor stock levels, ageing, FIFO, damaged stock and shrinkage.

Minimum Requirements

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who can comfortably manage both the physical stock-control environment and the administration behind it.
