Job summary

Sa Metal in Cape Town is seeking a Burner to support Production by cutting a variety of steel products using a cutting torch.

Key duties include cutting steel for remelting, maintaining cutting tools, ensuring equipment safety, and following health and safety procedures, with overtime as required. This permanent position reports to the Production Manager and offers Provident Fund and life cover benefits.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Relevant experience as a burner is advantageous.
• Excellent knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime.
• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Cut a variety of steel for remelting purposes.
• Maintain and check cutting tools.
• Ensure equipment is in good, safe and working order.
• Follow correct procedures before cutting hazardous material.
• Maintain safe working procedures at all times.
• Abide by OHSA regulations and company policies.
