Sa Metal in Cape Town is seeking a Burner to support Production by cutting a variety of steel products using a cutting torch.

Key duties include cutting steel for remelting, maintaining cutting tools, ensuring equipment safety, and following health and safety procedures, with overtime as required. This permanent position reports to the Production Manager and offers Provident Fund and life cover benefits.

Qualifikationen

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Relevant experience as a burner is advantageous.
• Excellent knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime.
• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety rules.

Jobbeschreibung

The Burner’s primary purpose is to provide support within the Production division as dictated by
operational requirements in the form of cutting a variety of steel product using a cutting torch. The
following tasks will include, but are not limited to:

• Cut variety of steel for re-melting purposes
• Maintenance and checking of cutting tools
• Ensuring that equipment is in good, safe and working order
• Follow correct procedure before cutting hazardous material identified
• Maintain safe working procedures at all times.
• Abide by the regulations as set out in the O.H.S.A. and company policies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Relevant experience as a burner is advantageous

• Good knowledge of applicable cutty safety procedure and safety equipment to be used.

Standard hours

• 07h30 – 17h00 : Monday to Thursday
