Job summary

Staff Solutions is seeking an experienced Field Guide in Makhanda to lead advanced game drives and walking safaris for discerning guests. The role requires FGASA Level 2 or NQF4 Field guide qualifications, and full/lead trails credentials, with 4–5 years of Big Five experience.

You will maintain vehicles and equipment, host meals, and work largely unsupervised, delivering exceptional service to a five-star clientele and ensuring safety and guest satisfaction on all activities.

Qualifications

• Must have FGASA Level 2 or NQF4 Field guide qualification.
• Must hold Full/Lead Trails guide or related specialist field guide qualification.
• At least 4–5 years' experience dealing with big five game and five-star clientele.
• Code B or EB driver’s license with PDP is required.
• SAPS firearms competency for rifle is required.
• DEAT registration is required.
• First aid certificate is required.
• 4x4 driving experience is preferable.
• Trails guide and Advanced Rifle Handling qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct an advanced game drive experience (2 x 3 hours daily).
• Conduct walking safaris; host guests at meals and other times.
• Maintain and up keep of vehicles and equipment/assets.
• Carry out stand-by duties and other tasks as directed by guests.
• Perform duties as required by the Field Guide Department.
• Work independently and unsupervised for the majority of time.
