Job summary

Simera Sense, based in Somerset West, South Africa, seeks a Thermal Engineer to design, simulate and test thermal solutions for spaceborne imaging instruments and related hardware. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure mission success in demanding space environments.

Responsibilities include developing active and passive thermal control strategies, building thermal models, conducting ground tests, and producing detailed reports.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in thermal design/analysis or mechanical design and analysis.
• Space thermal systems and multi-physics simulations experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer in space environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and test thermal solutions for space instruments and electronics.
• Collaborate with structural, electrical, optical, and mechanical teams.
• Develop and optimize thermal designs for spacecraft and related hardware.
• Create and maintain thermal models to predict temperatures in space environments.
• Define and implement Thermal Control System (TCS) requirements.
• Develop verification tests and document results.
• Prepare technical specifications and project documentation.
• Present results in internal and external meetings.
