Job summary

Simera Sense is a leading provider of Earth observation camera solutions for the global small satellite market. We are seeking a Firmware Engineer to design, develop and validate robust FPGA firmware for embedded systems used in space missions in a collaborative, agile environment.

The role focuses on high-performance FPGA firmware, testing, documentation and innovation, with a strong emphasis on reliability and cross-functional teamwork. Full-time, on-site in South Africa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Honours Degree in Engineering or BSc Eng required.
• 2–5 years FPGA-based firmware design, development and testing.
• Proficiency in C and VHDL; experience with high-speed FPGA design.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement FPGA firmware for space-related electronic systems, from concept to qualification.
• Develop software for embedded microcontrollers.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of firmware to ensure optimal performance.
• Utilise simulation tools and real-time testing environments to validate firmware functionality.
• Create detailed documentation for firmware designs, testing procedures and results.
