Job summary

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join a luxury hotel in Hoedspruit. You will assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen management, ensure dishes meet high standards and support service during peak times.

The ideal candidate has previous sous chef or senior chef experience in luxury hospitality, strong leadership and a passion for quality. This role requires flexibility across shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience as Sous Chef or senior Chef in a luxury hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, presentation and kitchen operations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Flexible to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef with the daily management and operation of the kitchen.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards.
• Supervise and support the kitchen team during service.
• Assist with menu planning, food preparation and daily kitchen organisation.
• Maintain consistent food quality, portion control and presentation.
• Ensure high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and food safety are maintained.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock control.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff where required.
• Assist with managing kitchen costs and minimising wastage.
• Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently during busy service periods.
