Job summary

Network2 requires an experienced Solar Tenders & Proposals Engineer to own technically and commercially robust bids in the renewable energy sector. You will manage end-to-end tender preparation for solar PV and BESS, review technical and commercial requirements, and craft competitive, compliant responses.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc/BTech in Electrical, Electronic or Renewable Energy Engineering.
• 3-5+ years of experience in solar PV, renewable energy, tenders or proposals.
• Proven experience preparing technical and commercial tenders/proposals.
• Strong understanding of Solar PV systems and electrical infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with strong Solar PV, BESS, tendering and proposal development experience to take ownership of technically and commercially robust bids across the renewable energy sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the end-to-end preparation and submission of solar PV and BESS tenders and proposals.
• Review tender documents, scopes of work, specifications and commercial requirements.
• Develop technically compliant and competitive tender responses.
• Interpret client requirements and translate them into practical solar energy solutions.
• Develop preliminary system designs, equipment selections and technical specifications.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), equipment schedules and technical documentation.
• Assist with PV system sizing, energy yield assessments and preliminary project costing.
• Coordinate input from engineering, procurement, project management, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Compile detailed technical and commercial proposals.
• Prepare tender clarifications, exclusions, assumptions and deviations.
• Ensure all tender returnables and supporting documentation are complete and submitted on time.
• Conduct technical and commercial comparisons of alternative equipment and design solutions.
• Support negotiations with clients, suppliers and subcontractors where required.
• Maintain a database of tender opportunities, pricing, suppliers, project references and previous submissions.
• Assist with handover of successful projects to the engineering and project delivery teams.
• Stay up to date with South African renewable energy regulations, standards and industry developments.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• BEng/BSc/BTech in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5+ years' experience in solar PV, renewable energy, electrical engineering, tenders or proposals.
• Proven experience preparing technical and commercial tenders/proposals.
• Strong understanding of Solar PV systems and electrical infrastructure.
• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will be highly advantageous.
• Good understanding of grid-tied and hybrid solar systems.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience with BOQs, costing and supplier quotations.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and technical report-writing skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to strict tender deadlines.
• Strong commercial awareness combined with sound technical judgement.
