A leading renewable energy solutions provider is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of commercial and industrial solar PV projects across South Africa.

This is an opportunity to join a growing business at the forefront of the energy transition, working with commercial, industrial and large energy-consuming clients to deliver high-quality renewable energy solutions that improve energy security, reduce operating costs and support sustainability goals.

We're looking for a hands-on project leader who combines strong technical understanding with practical execution experience, exceptional stakeholder management skills and the ability to drive projects through to successful completion.

The Opportunity

As Project Manager, you'll be responsible for managing projects from initial planning and mobilisation through to installation, commissioning and final handover.

You'll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, suppliers and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

This role offers significant exposure to commercial and industrial solar projects, with additional opportunities to work on battery storage and hybrid energy solutions as the market continues to evolve.

What You'll Be Doing

End-to-End Project Delivery

• Manage commercial and industrial solar projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Lead project planning, mobilisation, construction, commissioning and handover activities.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, milestones and delivery programmes.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and according to client requirements.
• Drive accountability across all project stakeholders.

Team & Contractor Coordination

• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning teams.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers and service providers throughout project execution.
• Ensure effective communication between site teams, clients and internal stakeholders.
• Facilitate regular project meetings and progress reviews.
• Resolve issues proactively to maintain project momentum.

Site Execution & Quality Management

• Oversee project activities on site and ensure adherence to project plans.
• Monitor workmanship, quality standards and technical compliance.
• Support commissioning activities and final project acceptance.
• Coordinate snag resolution and project close-out activities.
• Ensure all project documentation is completed and handed over successfully.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture across all project sites.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements.
• Monitor contractor compliance with safety procedures and site requirements.
• Identify and mitigate project risks before they impact delivery.

Commercial & Stakeholder Management

• Track project costs, scope variations and budget performance.
• Manage change control processes and project approvals.
• Provide regular project updates and reporting to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Build strong client relationships through professional communication and delivery excellence.
• Manage expectations and ensure a positive customer experience throughout the project lifecycle.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years' project management experience within the solar industry.
• Proven experience managing projects from planning through commissioning and handover.
• Strong understanding of commercial and industrial solar PV systems and project delivery environments.
• Experience coordinating engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning activities.
• Practical experience applying Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements within construction or renewable energy projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience using project management software and reporting tools.Ability to make informed decisions, take ownership and drive successful project outcomes.

Advantageous Experience

• 7+ years' experience managing commercial and industrial solar projects.
• Diploma or qualification in Project Management, Engineering or a related field.
• Experience working within Agile or Scrum project environments.
• Exposure to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Experience delivering hybrid Solar PV + Battery Storage projects.
• Knowledge of energy resilience, backup power and microgrid solutions.
