Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Field Service Technician to install, maintain, and repair Solar PV systems across the Free State. This hands-on role requires technical expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, safety, and independent work at customer sites.

You will be the face of the company, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction for renewable energy installations, with travel across the province and opportunities for overtime pay.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification or certification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Technology, or a related trade.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Field Service Technician, specifically with Solar PV systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, wiring, and safety practices.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
• Valid driver's license and a willingness to travel regularly within the Free State.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain photovoltaic (PV) solar systems on residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
• Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on solar energy systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues related to PV panels, inverters, and associated equipment.
• Conduct site assessments and ensure safe and efficient system installation according to design specifications and electrical codes.
• Provide excellent customer service, explaining system operation and maintenance requirements to clients.
• Document all service activities, including work performed, parts used, and system performance data.
