Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Solar PV Design Engineer in South Africa. You will design residential, commercial and industrial PV systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimal performance.

You will work with sales, project management, and installation teams from a remote setting. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years of PV design experience, with proficiency in PVSyst, Helioscope, or AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience designing solar PV systems.
• Proficiency with PV design software (PVSyst, Helioscope or similar).
• Strong knowledge of electrical principles and relevant SA regulations and standards.
• Ability to read site plans and electrical/structural drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs and system layouts for solar PV installations using industry-standard software.
• Perform site assessments and analyze factors to optimize system performance.
• Calculate system performance estimates, energy production, and financial projections.
• Ensure designs comply with electrical/building codes and SANS.
• Select components and create BOMs and technical specs for procurement.
• Collaborate with project managers to integrate designs into the project plan.
• Provide technical support to sales and installation teams.
• Stay current with solar PV technology and regulatory updates.
