Placements24 is seeking a Solar Farm Operations Manager to oversee the safe and efficient operation of solar facilities around Soweto, Gauteng. The role combines hands-on site leadership with strategic oversight of maintenance and performance monitoring.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years in large-scale solar operations, strong PV and SCADA knowledge, and proven leadership. Hybrid work model involves on-site and remote coordination within Gauteng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years in operations and maintenance of large-scale solar PV plants.
• Proven experience leading operational teams and ensuring safety compliance.
• Strong knowledge of PV systems, inverters, monitoring platforms and SCADA systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of solar farms for maximum uptime and energy output.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and performance monitoring systems.
• Lead, train, and manage a team of site technicians and maintenance personnel.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for PV panels, inverters, and balance of system components.
• Monitor plant performance, analyze data, and implement improvements to optimize energy generation.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards and company policies.
• Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with suppliers for equipment and services.
• Prepare regular operational reports, performance analyses, and budgets for senior management.
• Respond to and resolve operational issues and emergencies effectively.
• Liaise with grid operators, local authorities, and other stakeholders as required.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various site locations within the Gauteng region.
• Relevant certifications in solar technology or electrical safety are advantageous.
