Placements24 seeks an experienced Solar Farm Operations Supervisor to oversee day-to-day O&M of utility-scale solar farms near Durban. You will lead technicians, coordinate maintenance, and serve as the site contact for operational matters, ensuring reliability and safety across facilities.

The role requires a technical engineering degree or diploma, 4+ years in solar power plant operations, and proven leadership in field operations with hands-on SCADA/CMMS use.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in operation and maintenance of utility-scale solar power plants.
• Experience supervising technical teams and managing field operations.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV technology, inverter systems, and electrical safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a team of O&M technicians for routine and corrective maintenance of solar arrays and electrical equipment.
• Monitor SCADA systems to track power generation, identify issues, and troubleshoot faults in real time.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies.
• Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with suppliers for replacements and repairs.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Solar Farm Operations Supervisor to manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of their utility-scale solar farms located near Durban . This hands‑on role is critical for ensuring optimal performance, maximizing energy output, and maintaining the highest safety standards across the facilities. You will lead a team of technicians, coordinate maintenance activities, and serve as the primary point of contact for site‑specific operational matters, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our solar assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a team of O&M technicians in performing routine and corrective maintenance on solar arrays, inverters, and associated electrical equipment.
• Monitor SCADA systems to track power generation, identify performance issues, and troubleshoot faults in real-time.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Ensure compliance with all site‑specific safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies.
• Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with suppliers for timely equipment replacement and repairs.

Requirements
