Job summary

Linkfields Innovations (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Software Tester to ensure quality and reliability of software applications within Agile squads. You will plan, execute and document testing activities, validate financial data through SQL queries, and test APIs, CRM integrations, and system interfaces.

The role requires hands-on testing experience, strong collaboration with developers and product owners, and the use of AI tools to enhance test planning and execution.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field is advantageous.
• Relevant experience in Software Testing/QA.
• Experience with test planning, test case creation, functional and regression testing.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and squad structure.
• Experience with SQL, ideally on financial/transaction data.
• Experience with API testing and Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Experience with integration testing, CRM systems.
• Experience using Octane, Jira and Confluence.
• Experience investigating service/application logs and transaction flows.
• Experience using AI tools in software testing is advantageous.
• ISTQB certification would be advantageous.

The Software Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality, functionality, and reliability of software applications through effective planning, execution, and documentation of testing activities. The role works within Agile squad teams to identify defects, validate system functionality and financial transactions, and support the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Develop and execute test plans, test scenarios, and test cases.
• Perform sanity, functional, regression, integration, and negative scenario testing.
• Conduct API testing
• Perform SQL queries to validate financial transactions and data integrity.
• Investigate service/application logs to trace transactions and identify issues.
• Log, manage, and track defects
• Use Jira and Confluence for task management, collaboration, and documentation.
• Participate in Agile sprint events, including planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Work collaboratively within Agile squad groups with Developers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and other stakeholders.
• Test CRM integrations and other system interfaces.
• Retest defects and perform regression testing following system changes and fixes.
• Maintain accurate test documentation, evidence, and results.
• Identify testing risks and communicate defects, progress, and quality concerns to relevant stakeholders.
• Utilise appropriate AI tools to support test planning, test-case creation, analysis, documentation, and testing efficiency.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
• Relevant experience in Software Testing / Quality Assurance.
• Practical experience with test planning, test case creation, functional and regression testing.
• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum environment and squad structure.
• Experience with SQL, preferably involving financial or transactional data.
• Experience with API testing and Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Experience with integration testing, preferably involving CRM systems.
• Experience with Octane, Jira, and Confluence.
• Experience investigating service/application logs and transaction flows.
• Experience using AI tools within software testing or software delivery is advantageous.
