Job summary

Pro Talent is seeking a Software Tester in Durban to ensure quality and reliability of software products before deployment. You will plan tests, create cases, and execute both manual and automated tests, reporting defects for resolution.

You will collaborate with developers, designers, and product managers to meet quality objectives, maintain test documentation, and drive continuous improvement in testing processes while adapting to changing project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience in software testing.
• Familiarity with testing methodologies, tools, and techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of programming languages and scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript) is a plus.
• Experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, or similar is desirable.
• Experience writing and executing SQL queries for testing and data verification purposes.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive test plans based on project requirements and specifications.
• Create detailed and effective test cases covering all aspects of software functionality.

• Report bugs and issues accurately and promptly using designated tracking tools, providing necessary information for resolution.
• Conduct regression testing to ensure that previously identified issues have been addressed and that new changes have not introduced additional problems.
• Collaborate with developers, designers, and product managers to understand requirements, discuss defects, and ensure alignment on quality objectives.
• Maintain documentation of test cases, test results, and testing processes for future reference and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to the improvement of testing processes and methodologies by providing feedback and suggestions based on experience and industry best practices.
• Adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and timelines, while maintaining high quality in testing activities.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing updates on testing progress, issues, and recommendations.
• Design and execute test cases that validate security requirements; collaborate with developers to retest and validate fixes for security defects.
