Job summary

CyberSentriq is seeking a Backend Developer specializing in Go to design, build, and optimize cloud-based cybersecurity applications. You will work cross-functionally to deliver secure features with a focus on reliability and data protection.

Ideal candidates have solid Go experience, REST/gRPC, Kubernetes, and familiarity with AI-enabled development tooling and CI/CD. This role offers hybrid/remote work from Somerset, SA and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Solid Go experience with backend systems.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and gRPC services.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerised environments.
• Experience with messaging/queuing systems (NATS JetStream).
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) in SaaS.
• Familiarity with SCRUM/agile development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Go backend applications with a security mindset.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and Ops to define requirements and deliver secure features.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure security and coding standards.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, prioritising security and data integrity.
• Stay updated on cybersecurity trends and AI-driven development tooling.
• Perform DevOps duties to keep production secure and reliable.

Job Title: Software Engineer - Backend / Golang

Location: Hybrid / Remote (Somerset, South Africa)

At CyberSentriq, we build secure, cloud native technologies that protect organisations globally. We are expanding our engineering team and looking for a Backend Developer proficient in Go who is passionate about building scalable, secure applications while embracing modern AI driven development.

About the Role:

As a Backend Developer, you will design, build, and optimise cloudbased applications that underpin our core cyber security products. You\'ll work crossfunctionally with Product, Design, QA, and Operations to deliver highquality, secure features that directly impact customer experience and platform reliability.

This role is ideal for developers who thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy solving complex problems, and want to accelerate their growth by working with advanced technologies, including AIenabled development tooling and automated security controls.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust Go applications using the latest cloud technologies, with a focus on security and data integrity.
• Work closely with Development, Product Design, QA, and Operations to define requirements and deliver high quality, secure features.
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to security best practices and coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues, prioritising security and data protection.
• Stay current with industry trends in cyber security and data management, sharing insights with the team.
• Perform DevOps duties, maintaining secure and reliable code in production environments.

Your Story:

• Solid experience with Golang
• Strong experience building RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerised environments
• Experience with messaging/queuing systems (e.g. NATS JetStream)
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and working in a Saas environment is desirable
• Familiarity with agile development frameworks (e.g., SCRUM).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Experience with CI/CD automation and tools.
• Understanding of modern development best practices, standards, and patterns.
