Job summary

The Rank Group plc is looking for a Software Engineer to help craft modern web applications and mentor engineers within an Agile team.

You will design scalable frontend and backend APIs using React, Node.js, Azure, and CI/CD pipelines, while championing SOLID and TDD practices in a collaborative, distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with React and Node.js.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Solid knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with Git and GitFlow and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
• Strong knowledge of SOLID principles and software development best practices.
• Hands-on with unit/integration testing.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design complex web applications for scalability and maintainability.
• Mentor team members, conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and distributed stakeholders to deliver high-quality experiences.
• Take ownership of features and deliver results within tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Development

• Architect and design complex web applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Develop and implement robust and efficient solutions using technical expertise.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, pixel-perfect user experiences.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges, leveraging problem-solving and analytical skills.

Technical Contribution & Mentorship

• Mentor team members, providing guidance and support.
• Conduct code reviews, providing constructive feedback and enforcing coding standards.
• Share knowledge and expertise through technical discussions and presentations.
• Participate in technical discussions and decision-making processes.

Agile Delivery & Collaboration

• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) to drive efficient delivery.
• Collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Take ownership of complex features and deliver high-quality results within tight deadlines.
• Adhere to software development best practices, including Test-Driven Development and unit/integration testing.

Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution

• Proactively identify and resolve technical issues, escalating when necessary.
• Provide timely and accurate status updates to leads and stakeholders.
• Demonstrate a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Continuous Learning & Innovation

• Stay up to date with the latest technologies, frameworks, and industry trends.
• Continuously improve technical skills through self-learning and training.
• Experiment with new technologies and approaches to drive innovation.
