Placements24 is seeking a Grid Modernization Engineer to advance electrical infrastructure in Stellenbosch, focusing on smart grid, DER integration, and resilient energy systems. The role blends on-site assessments with remote analysis in a collaborative, research-driven environment.

You will design and implement grid modernization solutions, analyze performance data, and work with utilities, vendors, and internal teams to deploy ADMS/AMI/SCADA and keep security best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in power systems engineering, focused on grid modernization or smart grid technologies.
• Strong knowledge of SCADA, ADMS, AMI.
• Experience with power system analysis tools and simulation software.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles for utilities.
• Excellent project management and communication skills for hybrid work.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement grid modernization solutions (smart metering, SCADA, ADMS).
• Analyze grid performance data to identify improvements.
• Develop specifications for DER and renewable integration.
• Collaborate with utilities, vendors, and internal teams.
• Perform testing, commissioning, and performance monitoring.
