About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Grid Modernization Engineer to contribute to the evolution of the electricity network in the Randburg area. This role focuses on integrating advanced technologies to create a more reliable, efficient, and resilient power grid. You will be involved in projects related to smart grids, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), and renewable energy integration. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to shape the future of energy distribution and management within a leading utility company, with a mix of on-site and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and implement projects related to smart grid technologies , including AMI, SCADA, and distribution automation.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions for enhancing reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, IT, and regulatory affairs, to ensure successful project integration.
• Develop technical specifications for new grid technologies and equipment.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed modernization initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for grid modernization projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in power systems engineering with a focus on grid modernization or smart grid technologies.
• Strong knowledge of distribution systems , power flow analysis, and grid stability concepts.
• Experience with AMI systems, substation automation, and renewable energy integration .
• Familiarity with data analytics and cybersecurity principles relevant to utility infrastructure.
• Excellent project management and communication skills, with experience in a hybrid work environment .
