Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Grid Modernization Engineer to transform electrical infrastructure in a remote-first capacity. You will design, develop, and deploy advanced technologies to improve reliability, efficiency, and resilience of the power grid.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate smart grid solutions, renewables, and energy storage, tackling complex technical challenges in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on grid modernization and smart grid technologies.
• Strong understanding of grid operations, protection systems, and power electronics.
• Experience with communication protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, and IEC 61850.
• Proficiency in simulation and analysis tools relevant to power systems and grid modeling.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect solutions for smart grid implementation, including SCADA systems, sensors, and communication networks.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies for modernization.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies such as distributed energy resources (DERs), energy storage, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
• Develop models and simulations to test the impact of grid modernization initiatives before deployment.
• Collaborate with utility partners, regulators, and technology providers to ensure seamless integration and operation of modernized grid components.
