Job summary

Roadmac Surfacing Cape (Pty) Ltd is seeking a qualified Site Engineer (Civil) to join our team in Cape Town or Port Elizabeth, with projects across the Eastern, Western and Northern Cape. You will report to the Site Agent and support on-site construction management.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering degree, 3–5 years’ road construction experience, proficiency in MS Office and CCS Candy, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• B.Eng/BSc/NDip in Civil Engineering.
• 3–5 years’ work experience as an Engineer on road construction projects.
• Proficient in MS Office and CCS Candy.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in English, written and verbal.
• Willingness to travel.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the compilation of monthly measurements for the payment certificates.
• Monitor work progress against the contract programme.
• Monitor production outputs and allowable targets, initiating corrective action where required.
• Supervise and inspect sub-contractors' work on site.
• Ensure plant, labour and materials are ordered and delivered on time and within the allowable.
• Liaise with Foremen regarding production and cost requirements.
• Ensure adherence to contract documents and specifications.
• Ensure adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental Legislation and site rules.
• Support the Site Agent with day-to-day project management activities.
• Assist in achieving project objectives within time, cost, and quality parameters.

The successful candidate will be based in Cape Town or Port Elizabeth and work in the Eastern, Western and Northern Cape, depending on project requirements. He/she will report to the Site Agent.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• B. Eng/BSC/N.Dip in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 3- 5 years’ work experience as an Engineer on road construction projects.
• Computer Literate, proficient in MS Office and CCS Candy.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritise multiple activities simultaneously.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel.
