Job summary

Medipost Walk-in-Centre in Pretoria is seeking a dedicated front shop cashier/assistant to process sales at the POS, balance cash daily, and ensure accurate pricing and receipts while keeping displays tidy and aligned with merchandising standards. You will handle refunds, assist customers with product information, support management to meet sales targets, and participate in regular stock counts.

The role requires accuracy, reliability, and strong teamwork in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Matric is required.
• 1-2 years of experience as a Cashier and/or Shop Assistant in a retail environment.
• 12-18 months of customer service experience.
• Basic Maths competence.
• Basic Merchandising knowledge.
• Accurate and reliable in handling cash and transactions.

Responsibilities

• Process sales on the POS system accurately and provide receipts.
• Balance the cash register during daily cash-ups.
• Handle refunds and exchanges promptly and correctly.
• Ensure prices and quantities are correct and merchandise displays are tidy.
• Assist customers with product information and locate items in the WIC.
• Support management to achieve sales targets and maintain stock integrity.
• Participate in regular cycle counts and stock takes.

Job description

Responsible for ensuring stock levels, service levels and sales are maintained in the front shop of the Walk-in-Centre (WIC). Keep the WIC front shop organised according to visual merchandising standards.

Work Output

• Strong work ethic and maintain a high level of accuracy
• Accurately process sales on the POS system
• Ensure prices and quantities are accurate and providing a receipt for each sale
• Handle complete money properly and record all transactions accurately
• Accurately process refunds and/or exchange items
• Accurately balance the cash register during daily cash-ups
• Bagging or wrapping purchases to ensure safe transport
• Provide basic information to customers on products, promotions and/or item location in the W-IP
• High level of energy and customer service orientated
• Establish customer needs and use product knowledge to provide solutions.
• Assist management to achieve sales targets.
• Ensure stock is merchandised, controlled and managed according to the highest standards
• Participate in regular cycle counts and annual/bi-annual stock take
• Assist management to identify/eliminate security risks
• Ability to prioritize work to achieve the required daily outcome
• Maintain the highest housekeeping standards throughout the store
• Constant communication with dispensary and floor staff to address expectations, requirements and compliance
• Handle customer complaints and escalated to management

Operations

• Accurately complete and submit documentation to the responsible individuals where applicable

Reporting
