Job summary

Boardroom Appointments is seeking a Safety Officer in Durban to lead safety management across the site. The role requires SACPCMP registration as SHERQ Officer, a National Diploma or Degree in safety disciplines, and 3–4 years of construction site safety experience.

You will manage safety files, oversee inductions, and drive policy compliance at client sites. The successful candidate will coordinate risk assessments, training, and audits, ensuring adherence to safety standards and statutory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree/Diploma with SACPCMP registration (SHERQ Officer) is required, non-negotiable.
• Experience in construction site safety and safety program administration.
• Minimum 3–4 years of safety management experience with proven site safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage safety files and contractors packs, ensuring up-to-date documentation.
• Arrange inductions and medicals for employees to gain site access at client locations.
• Manage policies, procedures, risk assessments, and work instructions for Durban facilities and sites.
• Ensure company safety policies and procedures are followed and kept current.
• Oversee safety training across the division and support incident investigations.

Accountabilities / Key Performance Areas

• Contractor Management
• Legal Compliance
• Management System (including safety meetings and implementation of discussions)
• Monthly Safety Inspections
• Booking of Medicals & Induction in conjunction with the site administrator

Responsibilities (but not limited to)

• Managing, updating, compiling, and controlling safety files/contractors packs
• Arrange induction and medicals for The Company employees for site access to client sites (ports, vessels, oil & gas industry, etc.)
• Managing, updating, compiling, and controlling policies, procedures, work instructions, risk assessments, etc., for the Durban Facility and site work
• Ensure The Company policies, procedures, work instructions, etc., are adhered to
• Managing, updating, and compiling The Company SHE compliance on clients' sites and the Durban Facility and site work
• Safety Training for all staff in the Division
• Assist with the upkeep of the Durban Facility
• Incident and accident investigations
• SHE signage and demarcations management
• HCS (hazardous chemical substances), correct storage, and use
• Corrective actions (corrective and preventative actions for internal and external audits and general maintenance requirements)
• Managing, compiling, and assisting with baseline risk assessments, continuous and task-oriented risk assessments for the site
• Managing clients SHE audits (contractors packs) towards total compliance. Visit to clients sites as and when required
• Legal training (bookings, arranging, certificates, updating the training register, and managing training requirements for The Company employees for instant OHC, forklift, eye tests, etc.)
• First aider, SHE Rep, and Safety Officer for the area
