Job summary

Dante Personnel is recruiting a SHEQ Officer for a leading steel manufacturing company based on the East Rand. You will provide dedicated operational support across Safety, Health, Environment and Quality, maintaining a visible presence on the factory floor and ensuring compliance with company procedures and relevant laws.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations and drive continuous improvement with the SHEQ team.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Health and Safety Management is required.
• Mid Career level with 6+ years of experience in SHEQ.
• Experience in manufacturing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular workplace inspections and SHEQ compliance audits.
• Monitor adherence to SHEQ procedures, policies, and applicable legal requirements.
• Conduct behavioural safety observations and implement interventions.
• Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessment activities.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and SHEQ non-conformances and assist with identifying root causes.
• Monitor PPE compliance and safe working practices throughout the operational areas.
• Identify SHEQ risks and ensure that corrective actions are implemented and followed up.
• Verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions.
• Assist with SHEQ awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, and employee training initiatives.
• Monitor contractor compliance with company SHEQ requirements.
• Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Maintain accurate SHEQ records, reports, and inspection documentation.
• Promote employee awareness and participation in SHEQ initiatives.
• Provide ongoing operational SHEQ support to management and employees.
• Maintain a visible presence on the factory floor and engage with employees regarding SHEQ matters.
• Support the SHEQ Specialist with audits, compliance initiatives, and continual improvement activities.
