Job summary

Minopex is seeking a dedicated SHEQ professional to implement, maintain and continually improve the Sedibeng SHEQ Management System on-site at Postmasburg in the Northern Cape.

You will ensure legal compliance, oversee risk assessments, inspections and audits, manage incident investigations, and drive corrective actions and document control across site operations.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent with NQF Level 4.
• National Diploma in Safety Management or related SHEQ qualification.
• Health and Safety certification such as NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, or COMSOC.
• Incident investigation competency (ICAM/ RCAT).
• Risk management (HIRA).
• Knowledge of MHSA, OHSA, and relevant SANS/ISO standards.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the on-site SHEQMS in line with requirements.
• Monitor compliance and raise site-wide awareness of the system.
• Maintain up-to-date SHEQ documentation and reports.
• Enforce legal compliance and manage legal appointments.
• Conduct risk assessments and maintain risk register.
• Assist audits and drive continual improvement.

Introduction

This position will be based at Sedibeng, Postmasburg in the Northen Cape.

Description

To ensure the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Sedibeng, Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Management System (SHEQMS) on site, while ensuring legal compliance with the applicable Legislative and client-specific requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

SHEQMS Implementation and Maintenance:

• Implement and maintain the Minopex SHEQ Management system on-site in line with corporate and statutory requirements.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with the SHEQMS and ensure site-wide awareness of the system.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date SHEQ documentation and submit required reports to relevant stakeholders.

Legal Compliance:

• Enforce compliance with all legal requirements, including the right to stop unsafe work.
• Monitor adherence to applicable sections of the applicable legislation.
• Coordinate and manage all legal appointments as per the applicable legislation.

Risk and Hazard Management:

• Facilitate and oversee Risk Assessments (Baseline, IBRA and continuous risk assessments)
• Identify hazards and ensure effective mitigation measures are implemented.
• Maintain a risk register and ensure it is reviewed and updated regularly.

Inspections, Audits, and Monitoring:

• Conduct regular inspections of plant, equipment, and workplace conditions and report findings with preventative or corrective action recommendations.
• Participate in and facilitate internal and external SHEQ audits.
• Monitor site performance against legal and organizational standards and identify areas for improvement.

Incident and Injury Management:

• Manage the full incident investigation process, including injury reporting, root cause analysis, and documentation.
• Ensure that incidents are reported and investigated within the prescribed legal timeframes and company policies.
• Driver corrective actions and monitor their implementation and effectiveness.

Contractor and Access control Compliance:

• Ensure contractor SHE files meet compliance standards before granting site access.
• Monitor contractor adherence to SHEQ requirements throughout the project or contract lifecycle.
• Policy, Procedures, and Documentation
• Coordinate the development, review, and approval of all site-specific operational SHEQ procedures.
• Ensure document control processes are followed in line with the SHEQMS.
• Corporate Strategy Alignment:
• Implement and track progress against SHEQ objectives, KPI’s and targets as aligned with corporate and site-level strategic goals.
• Report on SHEQ performance and suggest initiatives to enhance performance and compliance.

Qualification Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED courses (e.g., N3 Certificate) where applicable.
• National Diploma in Safety Management or related SHEQ qualification.
• Health and Safety Management Certification (I.e., SAMTRAC/ COMSOC/ NEBOSH, etc.).
• Incident Investigation Competency (ICAM, RCAT, etc).
• Risk Management (HIRA).
• Sound knowledge of MHSA, OHSA, and relevant SANS/ISO standards.
