Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer with a focus on water treatment to join our client’s team in Paarl, Western Cape. The role involves designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting chemical processes for industrial water purification, wastewater treatment, and desalination, with on-site presence for critical operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related environmental science.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in chemical process engineering with water treatment specialization.
• Experience with water treatment technologies including membrane filtration, ion exchange, chemical precipitation, and disinfection.
• Strong knowledge of water chemistry and regulatory environments.
• Proficiency with process simulation software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize chemical processes for industrial water treatment, wastewater management, and desalination.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
• Conduct treatability studies, pilot tests, and performance evaluations.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions for dosing, coagulation, flocculation, filtration, and disinfection.
• Ensure compliance with local and international water quality standards and environmental regulations.
• Perform process simulations and modeling to optimize design parameters.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, and operators to deliver solutions.
• Develop operating procedures and training materials for plant staff.
